Disney Icon Joins Board as Nautical Museum Prepares to Unveil Vision for Its Future
In a continuing strategic effort to build the leadership of its Board of Trustees as it prepares to unveil the vision of its future in early 2009, the Newport Harbor Nautical Museum has announced that Roy E. Disney has become its newest Board member.
“One of our primary goals as we move forward with our vision for the new Museum is to expand our Board with the leadership necessary to guide us in our mission to build a world class cultural destination. We are honored that Roy is joining our cause and excited about the opportunity to work with such a preeminent American icon,” says David Muller, Executive Director.

Roy E. Disney Receives US SAILING's Highest Honor for Contribution to the Sport
Becomes 50th Recipient of Historic Herreshoff Trophy
St. Petersburg, Fla. (October 18, 2008) – US SAILING, national governing body of the sport, has awarded its prestigious Nathanael G. Herreshoff Trophy to Roy E. Disney (Burbank, Calif.) for his outstanding contributions to the sport of sailing in the U.S. over many years. Disney was unable to attend last night's awards ceremony at US SAILING's Annual Meeting in St. Petersburg, Fla., for a good reason: Disney's feature film 'Morning Light' - about sailing - was released nationwide last night.

Newport Harbor Nautical Museum Partners with Transpacific Yacht Club and Walt Disney Pictures to Present Exclusive O.C. Screening of "Morning Light"
The October 15, 2008, event will include Q&A with executive producers Roy E. Disney and Leslie DeMeuse about the movie which chronicles the adventures of one of the youngest crew ever to sail the Transpacific Yacht Race to Hawaii.
